Join us for a special Mother Goose Story Time on Mother Goose Day, May 1st, at 10:30am! We will mix songs and stories from the Mother Goose treasury before enjoying some nursery rhyme-inspired crafts and snacks.

We’re celebrating Space Day a day early! Join us at the library on Thursday, May 1st at 3:30pm as we celebrate all the amazing things that are part of our never-ending, ever-expanding universe in space. Make constellations with marshmallows, experience gravity as we design and launch bottle rockets, and test your space knowledge at our Space Day program.

Out in the Corner and the David M. Hunt Library are partnering for a LGBTQIA+ game night on the first Thursday of the month, from 5:30-7 pm. Bring your own games, play those provided, or just hang out. Snacks are provided!

On Friday, May 2nd at 4 pm the David M. Hunt Library and the Falls Village Equity Project will host a Banned Book Club. This month we will be discussing the book "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. Copies of the book are available at the library. This group is open to anyone high school aged and older.

Join the Friends of the David M. Hunt Library for their monthly book sale on the first Saturday of every month from 10 am to 1 pm. New, used, cds, dvds, coffee table books, recent fiction and mystery, children's books- there is something for everyone! All proceeds benefit the library.

Ann Kraus’s vibrant skyscapes capture the feelings evoked by a specific time and place, constantly evolving as they are buffeted by the wind, adding drama and clarity to our world at sunrise and sunset. The artist said of her paintings, "While some may be serene, others may be electrifying and chaotic."
A reception to celebrate the opening of I Collect Clouds will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Guests will have the chance to meet the artist, admire her work up close, and enjoy light refreshments in an elegant and welcoming atmosphere.
In addition to the opening reception, Ann Kraus will host an engaging Art Talk on Thursday, May 22, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the artist about her inspirations, techniques, and the thought-provoking themes behind her collection.

Natalia has recorded 8 albums on her own and on Willy Porter’s Weasel Records labels, toured with and/or opened for Janis Ian, Ani DiFranco, Susan Werner, Melissa Ferrick, Glen Phillips, Richard Thompson, Shawn Colvin and Dar Williams to name a few. Twelve Moons Coffee House is a community based, not-for-profit, all volunteer endeavor. It was instituted in 2012, bringing people together to share and enjoy live music and poetry. This event takes place on the first Saturday of each month at the Center on Main in historic Falls Village, CT. The intimate listening space features seating around candle-lit, café-style tables. Open Mic sign-up starts at 6:00 pm with the first performance at 6:30 followed by a Featured Act at 8:00. Tea, coffee and a variety of baked goods are available, and patrons are welcome to bring their own beverages (alcoholic/non-alcoholic) and food. There is no charge - Twelve Moons relies entirely on donations at the door to meet expenses. Throughout its history, Twelve Moons Coffee House performers have expressed gratitude for the attentive listeners who appreciate and encourage their talent.

The David M. Hunt Library's fiber arts group, Stitching in the Stacks, meets the second Thursday of every month at 6 pm. This group is a friendly place for fiber artists of all kinds to get together and work on projects.

We will gather together to give new purpose to our unpaired socks with multiple craft stations set up with new ways to repurpose your mismatched, lonely socks. Snacks and laughs aplenty.

On May 10th at 1 pm the David M. Hunt Library will host Andrew Warburton, author of “New England Fairies: A History of the Little People of the Hills and Forests”. From the ancient tales of Algonquian elders to the fireside stories of European immigrants, Andrew Warburton scours New England folklore to uncover the secrets of the region's Fair Folk and the storytellers who've encountered them through the years. On Thursday, May 15th at 5 pm the David M. Hunt Library will present a screening of the film “Uprooting Addiction”, an important, locally-produced film about trauma, addiction and recovery. May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The film will be followed by a panel discussion with the film’s producer and local organizations working to address the Opioid crisis in our community. The film is recommended for ages 12 and up. This event is sponsored by Greenwoods Counseling and the Regional Opioid Response Fund. Refreshments will be offered.

Your imagination's the limit at our Invention Convention! Stop by the library on May 16th from 3:30 - 5:00 and use any of our available materials to create your own vehicle, toy, game, instrument, sport, robot -- you name it! Inventions will be on display at the library for the rest of May.

The David M. Hunt Library in Falls Village will host its annual Homegrown Plant Sale on the weekend of May 17th and 18th from 9AM to 3PM. Falls Village’s own growers, gardeners, and CSAs will provide a wide variety of plants, including a large selection of tomatoes, vegetables, annuals and perennials, and houseplants including potted geraniums and hanging baskets from HVRHS. For those who want to donate plants for sale, drop off is Friday, May 16, 2-5PM. Perennials, annuals, houseplants, decorative pots, and garden accessories are welcome. Early drop-offs may be placed by the library’s back door near the faucet. Please label your plants.
